In 2011, we were introduced to Caesar the chimpanzee in the mega-successful sci-fi film Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Caesar was the first ape to achieve extremely high intelligence through experiments with an unapproved Alzheimer's drug. Understandably, the clever ape became a sensation at the time.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes picks up ten years after the first film, when Caesar and a pack of escaped apes hide in the forests around San Francisco. Humanity has been totally decimated by an aggressive virus, and fate throws more obstacles in the way of all the survivors of this viral pandemic. The vacated territory is occupied by a nation of genetically modified apes led by Caesar.

Humans will understandably try to stop the rise of ape dominance and return to the top of the evolutionary ladder. A fight will break out to determine who will be the dominant species on Earth. The briefly agreed truce will not last long, as the power struggle within both groups escalates and a fatal clash is imminent, after which it will be completely clear who will become the ruler of the planet...
