The post-apocalyptic RPG Fallout 3 will run in real time (i.e. no longer turn-based) on an evolved version of the Oblivion engine. The story begins in a hospital with the death of your mother and the birth of your character, who you will customize in your own image with the assistance of your father. Every aspect of character creation will be based on the SPECIAL system.
As you grow up in the vault, you will receive your first book, which allows you to choose the initial state of each of your seven primary abilities. Later in life, you will receive your first weapons and a wrist computer, which serves as a menu for determining your character traits and skills. There will be 14 of them in total, and you can choose 3 of them, which are supposed to grow at a faster rate than the others when you level up. You will also meet a dog, but the NPCs will play a more important role, from whose ranks you can hire companions from time to time, although Fallout 3 is definitely not a group game.
Fans of the old games were most worried about how the fights would be handled. Their system is called Vault-tec Assisted Targeting System (VATS) and you will be able to eliminate enemies in two ways. Either in real time while shooting from your own eyes, just like in any FPS, or after pausing the game and calmly aiming at the target. However, the second option will only be available if you have some action points. Once you run out of them, you will only be able to fight in real time and you have to wait for your action points to recharge. Just like you, opponents can also injure you at specific points on your body at any time. Unlike Oblivion, enemies will not level up with you, so if you enter a higher level location, expect an early death.
The Karma system (actions that affect a character's reputation) will return to Fallout. A completely new health and radiation system will assess how much of an effect certain radioactive things (e.g. water) have on the hero and how they affect the body after consumption.
The Pitt (encore)
Pittsburgh was once the industrial center of the pre-war world. The city was spared the horrors of nuclear conflagration only to be ravaged by a terrible epidemic of disease, infection, and mutation. Venture into the ruins of this industrial city, now known as The Pitt.
Operation Anchorage (encore)
Takes place inside virtual reality, it is essentially a reconstruction of a military action that took place long before the events of F3. The task is to liberate Anchorage, Alaska, which means a completely new environment for the player, and considering that the agenda will be mainly fierce fighting, the gameplay of the new content will also be different. This is also compounded by the fact that when entering the simulator, the player will lose all accumulated resources (only temporarily) and will be forced to change his playing style according to what the creators of the simulation provide him.
Broken Steel (encore)
The expansion focuses on the Brotherhood of Steel, adding new locations and improving existing ones. New weapons include a heavy flamethrower and enemies include a super mutant armed with a laser rifle. The maximum level has been increased from 20 to 30, which also brings new skills.
Point Look (encore)
Almost all of the content in this expansion has little in common with the original Fallout 3. It's like a completely different game. Just on the same engine and with the same RPG system. The atmosphere and graphic representation of this world is closest to Morrowind.
Mothership Zeta (encore)
You will be abducted aboard an alien ship and you will have to figure out why the aliens are kidnapping people, what they are up to and most importantly how to stop them. You will get your hands on a bunch of energy weapons and other toys. The deck of the alien ship is a nice change from the destroyed surroundings of Washington DC
