When Thomas and his friends managed to escape from the murderous labyrinth, they hoped to return to their old lives. But they couldn't have been more mistaken. Instead of freedom, they were only waiting for advancement to the second phase of the exam prepared by the ZLSN organization.

For Thomas and the other Placer survivors of the labyrinth, the running is far from over. Their next escape takes them to the Scorched Earth, the most scorched part of the planet, a landscape full of unimaginable obstacles. Solar flares have scorched the Earth to ashes and turned it into a wasteland. World governments have collapsed - and with them, law and order.

The crumbling ruins of the cities are now being roamed by so-called "rappers", people covered in festering wounds, driven beyond sanity by a contagious virus. Their only goal is to find anything alive to feed themselves.
