Lost Planet 3 follows pilot Jim, who leaves planet Earth to accept a risky but lucrative contract on the planet EDNIII for Neo-Venus Construction (Non-Object), a company that prepares planets for colonization. Jim joins his colleagues at Corona Station and begins exploring uncharted parts of the planet, collecting samples of the Thermal Energy found on the planet. NEVAC's thermal energy reserves are running low, and the fate of the mission to Corona depends on the discovery of natural energy sources. Jim sees a golden opportunity to get his hands on a large sum of money that would allow him to return home to his family.
