EA Sports has announced this year's Madden NFL 18, which will arrive at the end of August. We immediately received the first trailer, major news and a "cover hero". Let's start with the last one. The game's cover will be adorned with Tom Brady, who plays the quarterback position for the New England Patriots and has been awarded the NFL's Most Valuable Player (MVP) four times.
Directly linked to it is the special GOAT edition, where this abbreviation stands for Greatest of all time, and with it you get three-day priority access to the game, five elite players, 12 packs, 2,500 contracts and other bonuses for the Ultimate Team mode.
The main new feature this year, however, will be the transition to the Frostbite engine, as FIFA did last year and hopefully the NHL will do the same. This new feature is also linked to the game's slogan, which is "Madden as you've never seen it before." The NFL will come to life before your eyes in the series' most "photorealistic" game yet.
Furthermore, the creators promise so-called live gameplay thanks to weekly updates of rosters, commentators and statistics from NFL.com, so your journey to win the Super Bowl will be up to date. Three new unique play styles, specific passes with the Target Passing system, and adjustments to situations and strategies on the fly are also confirmed. The Madden Ultimate Team mode will of course return in full force and there will be no shortage of legendary players. The last known novelty so far is the Franchise mode, which you could already try out in NHL 17 last year under the name Organization.
We'll find out more at the EA PLAY conference on June 10th. Of course, you can count on EA Access support, so you'll be the first to play on Xbox One. We don't know the exact date yet, but it will probably be a week earlier than usual.
