Ben Cahill (Josh Duhamel) is an ambitious Southern lawyer who becomes deeply involved in a murderous conspiracy. Although he is married to the beautiful Charlotte (Alice Eve), who is deeply depressed after a recent miscarriage, he makes the mistake of rekindling his affair with his ex-girlfriend Emily (Malin Akerman), who is now the partner of Arthur Denning (Anthony Hopkins), a billionaire pharmaceutical company owner. Denning is trying to cover up the many deaths caused by the ingestion of his company's product. Armed with confidential information leaked by Emily, Ben goes to his boss, Charles Abrams (Al Pacino), who heads a large law firm. After much persuasion, Charles assigns Ben a case with great potential... but also great risks.
