Samurai Warriors: Spirit of Sanad is a historical strategy and tactics game that tells the story of the conflict of the sixteenth century, which was known as the Sengoku era, the age of the samurai. For the first time, the game focuses solely on the legendary Sanad clan and its unique history. The Sanad clan is chosen for two reasons. The first is their unique resilience and constant striving to overcome difficulties.

Second, in a time when most samurai would rather commit suicide than be defeated, the Sanada clan valued life and fought to the very end. Their motto, "Survive until life ends," resonated strongly in all members of the clan, from the patriarch, Masayuki, to his son, Yukimura, who is the protagonist of the game.

Each Japanese clan had its own banners symbolizing the key beliefs of their lord's family. For the Sanad clan, this emblem was six gold coins on a red field. It may seem simple, but it represents the toll that souls must pay to the ferryman to cross the river to the afterlife, and thus highlights their great effort in all the duels they participate in. The game introduces players to the life of the Sanad clan by closely following the life of Yukimura Sanad and his growth from a young man to someone who was considered the strongest warrior in Japan. Players will survive a heroic story that takes place from his birth to his death at the Siege of Osaka. Yukimura was known as the Crimson Demon of War due to his formidable fighting skills, and players grow alongside him through many duels that take place in the familiar one-on-one style.

You also get the chance to play the long-requested role of his father, Mayasuki, who you will control for the first time. Years before Yukimura's birth, players follow in his father's footsteps and gain a better look at how he grew up within the clan.
