The 300Mbps Wireless N Router TL-WR841N is a wired/wireless combo device designed primarily for the networking needs of multi-PC households, small businesses, and home offices. With 2T2R MIMO technology, the TL-WR841N delivers exceptional and advanced wireless performance, making it ideal for HD video streaming, Internet telephony, and online gaming. In addition, by pressing the QSS (Quick Security Setup) button on the sleek case, you can easily secure your wireless connection with WPA2 encryption to prevent network attacks from outside.
Wireless N speed and range
Supporting the IEEE 802.11n standard, the TL-WR841N can create a wireless network and achieve up to 15 times the speed and 5 times the range of traditional 11g products, with transmission rates of up to 300 Mbps.
The device is very good at suppressing data loss over long distances or over obstacles found in a small office or large apartment, even in buildings with steel and concrete structures. And most importantly, you can easily deploy a wireless network over long distances that cannot be achieved with older 11g products! This means that the router offers fast enough speeds for almost any bandwidth-intensive application, including Internet telephony (VoIP), HD video streaming, or lag-free online gaming.
CCA technology – stable wireless signals
CCA (Clear Channel Assessment) technology automatically avoids channel conflicts through the free channel selection function, fully realizing the benefits of channel bonding to provide higher wireless performance.
WPA/WPA2 encryption – advanced security
When it comes to wireless network security, WEP encryption is no longer the strongest and most effective protection against external attacks. The TL-WR841N offers WPA/WPA2 (Personal and Enterprise) encryption created by the WI-FI Alliance, supporting interoperability and security of WLAN networks.
QSS button – quick security setup
Compatible with the WI-FI Protected Setup™ (WPS) standard, the TL-WR841N features a quick security setup feature that allows you to automatically set up a WPA2 secure connection almost instantly, which is more secure than WEP encryption, with just a press of the QSS button. This method is not only faster than conventional security setup, but also more convenient because you don't have to remember any passwords!
IP QoS–bandwidth management
Indiscriminate internet browsing and downloading by internal users that overload the wireless network bandwidth often means that there is insufficient bandwidth in the home or small office. The IP QoS feature integrated in the TL-WR841N allows for optimal bandwidth utilization and offers bandwidth allocation to prevent network congestion and bandwidth abuse. In this way, small network users are allocated dedicated bandwidth and non-critical applications will not reduce network throughput.
Easy setup
The device comes with a CD containing the Easy Setup Assistant, which guides you step-by-step through the setup process and also helps you configure the wireless network and security, which is especially appreciated by inexperienced users.
TP-LINK TL-WR841N is a reliable device designed for indoor use. If used outdoors - in rain or high humidity, damage may occur not only to this device, but also to other network elements. This is a multifunctional device, where you can easily switch between network modes with a single button. You can read an overview of its functions below.
Access Point – access point mode is a simple mode that is used in most cases to cover larger areas where the router function is not needed – for example, to create another subnet. Simply put, an access point converts wired internet to wireless - thus mediating an internet connection.
Router – Router mode works by forwarding data to its destination through a process called routing. Simply put, it processes incoming data from a LAN or WAN port and redistributes it to other LAN ports (devices connected to them). It can separate 2 different networks – local (LAN) and internet (WAN). This is useful if you want to separate your home network from the internet, for example.
Wireless Router – Wireless router mode is very widespread, most network devices work in it. It is a combination of a router and an access point (AP) together, which provides Internet access for all connected devices. Either via a wired connection (LAN) or a wireless connection (WLAN).

The coverage of the Wi-Fi signal depends on the transmitting antennas - type, number and especially their gain. These parameters, together with the number and type of obstacles (e.g. masonry), affect the signal range. Therefore, it is recommended to place the transmitting device in the center of the area that we want to cover with the wireless signal. However, with the TP-LINK TL-WR841N device, we don't have to worry about anything, because it has 2 external antennas with a gain of 2x 5 dBi. You can therefore count on trouble-free Wi-Fi operation.
| Antenna location | Number of antennas | Antenna gain |
| External | 2 | 2x 5dBi |
| LAN speed | Number of LANs | Number of WANs |
| 10/100Mbps | 4 | 1 |
IPv6 support – this is the designation of an upcoming protocol for communication in the current Internet. IPv6 replaces the aging IPv4 protocol. It brings in particular a massive expansion of the address space (the ability to assign all devices their IPv6 address) and a more advanced ability to transmit data at high speed.
WPS support – WPS technology is associated with a secure connection to your Wi-Fi network without the need to know the set password for access. After pressing the WPS button on the router and then launching this technology on the connected device, a “certain key” is compared and if it matches, the device connects.
QoS – a feature that allows the user to precisely divide data streams for individual devices on the network, as well as for individual services. It is therefore used to divide the available transmission capacity to avoid network congestion.
