Auto mechanic Cade Yager (Walhberg) tries to support himself and his teenage daughter Tessa (Nicola Peltz) by fixing a lot of undriveable wrecks.

He is desperately unsuccessful, but only until a shattered truck turns out to be a Transformer, and the most important one – Optimus Prime. Cade can hardly be happy about this, because America has not yet fully recovered from the battle between the "good" Autobots and the "evil" Decepticons, which destroyed half of Chicago at the end of the third part. Four years later, all representatives of this alien race are on the index and elite scientific minds are trying to create Earthly Transformers that would more effectively face similar threats.
