Frequently asked questions
Why is the limited edition Steam Deck OLED not available in all regions?
The limited edition device is an experiment for our team, which is also the reason for the limited number of pieces. However, we hope that it will be a successful experiment and that customers will like it - if we see a lot of interest in this type of product, you can expect other color variants.
Won't bots and various resellers buy up all the limited edition pieces?
To minimize the chances of bots and resellers purchasing the limited edition device while not restricting genuine customers, we have added a few additional requirements. To be eligible to purchase the limited edition Steam Deck OLED, you must be located in the United States or Canada, have an account in good standing, and have a documented Steam purchase made before November 2023.
Is the 256GB model of the Steam Deck any different from the one previously available?
The Steam Deck LCD with 256GB storage is now considered the base model, but other than the price, it is no different from the previously available 256GB model. This model (like all other existing LCD models) will continue to receive software updates.
If a model is sold out, will you switch to a reservation system for it?
Yes, if we run out of stock of any Steam Deck model (excluding discontinued models), we will move to a pre-order system and customers will be invited to complete their purchases in the order they are placed in the pre-order queue. However, we will regularly restock and if we do need to move to pre-orders, we do not anticipate the wait time to be as long as we did with the LCD version of the device.
Are there quantity limits on Steam Deck OLED purchases?
Currently, there is a maximum of one Steam Deck OLED per account per week, and we will lift the limit once we are confident we can meet demand.
Will replacement parts be available for the Steam Deck OLED?
Yes, we will be offering replacement parts and repair guides for the Steam Deck OLED again in partnership with iFixit.
Will older accessories work with the Steam Deck OLED?
Yes, accessory compatibility is completely identical between the Steam Deck (LCD) and Steam Deck OLED.
