The Fellowship of the Ring - turn-based game is a cooperative game for 1 to 4 players with 18 chapters based on the first part of JRR Tolkien's classic trilogy.
What is a trick-taking game?
The rules of this game are based on the rules of many classic games (Maria, Bridge, Euchre, Doppelkopf or Tarot). A trick is created by each player playing a card from their hand into the middle of the table. One of the players then wins the trick and takes the cards.
What is a cooperative game?
In a cooperative game, players must work together to complete each player's task, and they win or lose as a team.
What is a chapter?
Chapters are scenarios that together make up the story of The Fellowship of the Ring. They specify the characters players must play as, special rules they must follow, and tasks they must complete to progress. They can be played in a single playthrough, but we recommend playing them in ascending order.
Players are dealt cards that represent the world of Middle-earth and how it is affected by the One Ring. By working together and playing them wisely, players will complete the tasks of each character and win the game.
Individual card deals are called rounds, which are played as a series of tricks.
During setup and play, players may only discuss information that is visible to everyone. They may not discuss or show cards in their hand or in another player's hand.
