In Port Royale 3, you embark on an epic adventure across the Caribbean during the turbulent 17th century, as the naval powers of Spain, England, France, and the Netherlands battle for control of the colonies. As a young captain, you will strive to build your fortune and reputation in the new world colonies. The campaign consists of two different paths for you to choose from: adventurer or merchant.

Following the Adventurer's Journey, the game will take you through naval battles, raiding, piracy, bounty hunting, pillaging, and conquering cities in an attempt to build a new empire in the Caribbean. The Merchant's Journey will force you to use your economic know-how to become the most powerful merchant in the new world, establishing trade routes, building manufacturing facilities, and developing cities. In free-play mode, these two paths are combined.

In addition to the single-player campaign, you will also find a number of multiplayer modes where you can freely use trade, economic and mining options.
