Description
Newborn elephant calves weigh up to 100 kilograms and measure 90 centimeters. After half an hour, they can stand on their own two feet and run with the herd. Baby elephants are really clumsy after birth and have to learn to use their trunks. They cannot eat with them yet and are breastfed by their mothers for the first year. They gain a good kilo every day. It is very important that they grow up quickly, because adult and healthy animals are hardly harmed by lions or crocodiles. If a beast does come dangerously close, the adults form a circle around the calves. They are well protected in the middle of it. When a baby elephant is born, it falls from a height of almost 70 cm. However, nothing happens to it. Dimensions: 6.8 x 5.5 x 3.5 cm. Not suitable for children under 3 years old. Recommended age: 3-8
