Description
Male giraffes are the largest land animals, with their necks measuring up to six metres long. Their necks can be up to two and a half metres long and weigh up to 250 kilograms. Yet, like us humans, they only have seven cervical vertebrae. Male giraffes are so tall that they can peek their heads into a second-floor window of a building and say hello. Their tongues are 50 centimetres long, are insensitive to thorny leaves and have an unusual colour: dark blue. This colour protects the tongue from the sun's heat when the giraffes wrap it around and pluck leaves. Even animals as large as giraffes have to sleep between meals. When there is no danger, they take a nap. In the wild, however, they sleep mainly standing up. When two male giraffes fight, they bang their heads into the neck of their opponent. Dimensions: 12.7 x 17 x 4.4 cm. Not suitable for children under 3 years of age. Recommended age: 3-8
