The 20th anniversary of The Lord of the Rings films holds special meaning for us here at the Workshop, and we are delighted to commemorate the upcoming event with a brand new series of iconic Middle-earth characters. Let the celebrations begin!
With the loss of Gandalf and the breaking up of the Fellowship, many would be forgiven for falling into despair, but not Aragorn. Most would call it folly, pursuing a roving band of elite Uruk-hai to rescue Merry and Pippin, but not Aragorn.
Brave, tenacious, and kind-hearted, Aragorn once again proved his worth and strength of character, cementing his position as the defender of peace in Middle-earth.
"While Frodo and Sam slowly make their way towards Mordor through the labyrinth of Emyn Muil, Merry and Pippin are held captive by the brutal Uruk-hai. Captured during the raid on Amon Hen, the hobbits are slung like baggage on the broad backs of the tireless Uruk, who run day and night over the broken hills and across the rolling plains of Rohan.
Faced with a choice of whom to follow, Aragorn decides to let the Ring go in Frodo's care; instead, he vows to hunt down Merry and Pippin's captors and rescue the hobbits if he can. With him go Gimli and Legolas: a Man, a Dwarf, and an Elf. Three kin united in purpose; three hunters whose chase across the plains will become legend and song in years to come.
Aragorn scarcely pauses for breath as he strides at a relentless pace across the plains, leading his friends over rock and grass, broken to the ground by iron boots, single-minded in his determination to overtake their quarry. But the pursuit drags on; where orcs would usually seek shelter from the sun, these run fearlessly under the open sky, driven by some unseen force... for great powers have begun to move in Middle-earth. As war draws near and the race for the Ring quickens, the reach of the enemy grows ever wider.
