The Wild West (also known as the Western term in Czech) represents the geography , history , folklore , and culture associated with the gradual settlement of the western part of what is now the United States.   The first European settlers of the American states began in the early 17th century.   It is a history of conquest, but also of the merging of different nations and cultures. The inhabitants of the Wild West had a really hard time, having to deal with diseases, winter storms, or Indian raids . A third of the number of cowboys were Mexicans, blacks or descendants of the original Indians.
