Wailing wall

The Western Wall, also known as the Wailing Wall, is located in Jerusalem. It is the remains of the western part of the outer wall, which was built towards the end of the   the second temple of Jerusalem   surrounded   The Temple Mount. Today it is the holiest place   Jews, but it also symbolizes a place of mourning over the destruction of the Temple. Many pilgrims from all over the world come to the wall to express their   prayers. This is often accompanied by a custom in which a prayer is written on a piece of paper and inserted between the stones of which the wall is built. A Bar Mitzvah ceremony is also often held here. The wall was built of large limestone blocks around 19 BC during the reign of King Herod the Great of Judea.
